Hello, I am Jennifer Coen, and I have spent my life studying business and money management. I am a business owner in our community, and I live and work here in West Volusia. I have been married for nineteen years with a beautiful fourteen year old daughter. I am a graduate from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor degree in accounting and an associate degree in business administration.

I had worked ten years at an accounting firm in Orlando as a staff accountant preparing financial statements and small business returns for dozens of local, small business owners. As part of my job, I established relationships with my clients and was responsible for getting them answers to their questions to assist them in running their business.

For the past fifteen years, I have helped my husband build and manage a family-run auto transport company located in DeLand that maintains five tractor-trailers and employs nine, including myself.

I believe in the importance of being a leader, not only for my daughter, but also for those in our community. Since moving to DeLand, I have been a parent volunteer at my daughter’s school, St. Barnabas Episcopal school for nine years & I was a girl scouts troop leader for five years. In addition, I am a graduate from the National Civilian Community Corp where I proudly served our country through an 11 month program where I received intensive leadership training and completed community service projects up and down the eastern coast of the United States.

I cannot always be the change I want to see in my community on my own, so I am a proud member of the following groups: American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), St John’s Riverkeeper, Habitat for Humanity & Save the Manatees club.

To quote my 2002 resume (which was true then, and still true today):
“My biggest strength is that I am naturally detail-oriented and thorough. I consistently strive to perfect, not in one specific area, but in all areas of my life. Thus, I take pride in my work. I am a team player and a self-motivated individual. My focus is always on achieving the end result.”

And now I am a first-time candidate for a seat on the West Volusia Hospital Authority.

My name is Jennifer Coen and I am running in 2020 because I want to see that our taxpayer funds are spent prudently with the most tax dollars going to provide healthcare for those in need and to protect and preserve the WV Hospital Authority for many years to come.

Thank you,
Jennifer Coen
